2021 EXPO Palmer et al (Computer Science)
Abstract
There is a point of time where a foster teen ages out of the Foster Care System, and unfortunately there are not many resources available to help them move forward with life on their own. They usually do not have any of their personal records, which makes it difficult for them to apply for jobs and schools, as well as to be able to maintain their health and medical needs. The purpose of Cynch, the web application being developed, is to give foster teens a better chance at being successful on their own. The most important focus for Cynch is to give the foster teen more control over their lives and give them tools to help them be successful.
Foster teens will have the ability to view information about their lives, such as their social security number, medical records, and education records. They will be able to keep track of their plan items and submit their progress to their caseworker, which will help them with things such as budgeting, applying for schools, applying for jobs, etc. During this presentation, our development progress on this multi-year project will be demonstrated.
